That’s the warning from PNM elections supervisory team head Murchison Browne to all combatants in the party’s upcoming executive election
Cara Suites Hotel and Conference Centre is keeping up with the standards expected by regional and international business and leisure visitors, with a $3 million room upgrade to the property located along the Southern Main Road, Claxton Bay.
In an interview with the Business Guardian, general manager Hassel Thom said: “We need to continuously upgrade to get customers and to keep abreast of the competition.”
He said the current 50-room upgrade was a follow-on to the 2009 expansion where they doubled the room stock by adding 50 new rooms and increased the capacity of the ballroom to accommodate 400 guests. That expansion cost $19.5 million.
The current upgrade was also a response to a Tourism Development Company guest room upgrade incentive programme whereby properties are rebated 25 per cent of the cost of the upgrade works per room. The first phase of the upgrade started in late July 2012. So far $1.2 million has been spent. “Whether we get the rebate or not we need to continuously upgrade,” said Thom. So far 14 rooms have been completed with another 12 to be completed by September.
