No hidden charges in JetBlue fares
US low cost carrier JetBlue Airways plans to shake up the local aviation market with the introduction of cheaper fares, passenger comfort and superior in-flight service, Anders Lindstrom, corporate communications manager, told the T&T Guardian. JetBlue’s maiden flight to Piarco International Airport from JFK International Airport in New York arrived on Monday afternoon.
Lindstrom has assured potential customers there are no hidden charges in the carrier’s pricing system which was industry standard, whether customers changed, cancelled bookings or requested additional luggage. He said it would cost passengers an average of US$220 one-way to each port-of-call in both peaks and non-peak periods.
“We differ quite significantly from other low cost airlines, primarily as we offer full service including unlimited snacks and soft drinks, screen in all seats with 36 channels of free entertainment, more than 100 radio channels and the most legroom in coach. All our fares are sold on a one-way basis and we don’t charge for choosing a seat. With JetBlue, the first checked-in luggage is also free of charge. We are also rolling out next generation Fly-Fi, the fastest Wi-Fi connect in the sky,” said Lindstrom.
He added, “We have a very clear business model which is to serve the underserved. We bring our award-winning service and low fares to markets that have over priced fares and low service.
This includes Port-of-Spain, where we feel we will be able to offer Trinidadians and Tobagonians more competitive fares and a better service than what is currently offered between Trinidad and the US. JetBlue has a very strong and loyal customer base in both New York and Fort Lauderdale and both cities also have a large diaspora, so we believe we will bring a wide mix of leisure travellers, customers going back to visit friends and family and business travellers.”
