Woman doused with hot oil
A Point Fortin woman was doused with hot oil during an argument with her former boyfriend’s new lover. A 32-year-old woman is now in police custody. The victim, Dinelle Mitchum, 24, of Fanny Village, suffered burns to the right side of her face and shoulder. Police said Mitchum went to Third Street, Techier Village, around 11 am on Monday to collect some of her belongings from the home she shared with her former boyfriend.
He was not at home and the 32-year-old woman, with whom he is now involved in a relationship, answered the door. An argument ensued and the suspect reportedly went to the kitchen where she took a pot containing hot oil from off the stove and threw it on Mitchum. Mitchum screamed out and ran for help, police said. Passers-by took her to the Point Fortin Area Hospital where she was treated and later transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital.
A report was made to the police and officers from the Point Fortin CID, led by Sgt Corrie, arrested and charged her with assault. WPC Bethel laid the charge. The woman is expected to appear in court next week.
