Strangers with ‘car trouble’ chop, rob Golconda man
Golconda resident Regan Boxhill was stabbed, chopped and robbed of over $80,000 in valuables by two men he thought were having car troubles on Wednesday.
Boxhill, 54, of Ridgewood Gardens, Golconda, spent several hours at the San Fernando General Hospital following the attack.
In an interview yesterday, Boxhill said he was getting ready to leave home around 11.30 am when his nephew Pooran Willis and brother Nigel Humphrey came to visit. While Willis was outside, two strangers came asking for water because their car had shut down.
“My brother told me the men needed help, but as I opened my door one of them was already walking up the stairs. He had a gun in his hand and he said ‘everybody lie down,’” Boxhill recalled.
The robbers then used tie straps to restrain everyone.
“The gunman kept saying, ‘Where the money’ and I told him it have no money here. I tried to retaliate and he give me a stab on my left thigh and a chop to my head,” Boxhill added.
The men also beat Willis on the head. They stole Boxhill’s wallet containing $40 in cash, his phone and an undisclosed sum from Willis and Humphrey. The men then snatched the keys to Boxhill’s Toyota Axio valued at $80,000 and drove off.
About ten minutes later, Boxhill managed to untie himself. He then freed his relatives and went to a shop behind his house to get help. The neighbour contacted police and Boxhill was rushed by ambulance to the hospital.
Police have since obtained video footage of the thieves and an arrest is imminent.
