DJ Cocky killed in Cocorite
Investigations are continuing into a fatal shooting in Cocorite in which one person died and another critically wounded.
The murdered victim was identified as Kendel “DJ Cocky” Duncan, a resident of Waterhole. Duncan, who was in his 30s, was said to be a front line steel pan player with the band, Phase 2 Pan Groove.
The injured man’s identity was not disclosed.
According to a police report, shortly after 1 pm two gunmen ambushed Duncan and opened fire on him.
While running away they ran into police officers. The men, police said, opened fire on them causing them to return fire. One of the gunmen, police said, was injured.
Both Duncan and the wounded man were taken to hospital, however, Duncan succumbed to his injuries. The other man was treated and warded.
Duncan’s murder has brought the toll to 300 for the year so far. Investigations are continuing.—Rhondor Dowlat
