Fatima, Barrackpore West aim for SSCL crown
Leaders Fatima College will aim for the title and its seventh consecutive win of the season when the final round of the Powergen Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) bowls off today, at 10 am.
Fatima will be aware that a last round slip up may cost the school the premiership title, as second placed Barrackpore West is only nine points behind. With a maximum 20 points available in a match, a Barrackpore West win and a Fatima defeat will see the latter relinquish the title.
Barrackpore has a tougher match on paper, as it faces fifth placed and defending champions Naparima at the Barrackpore West School Ground. Fatima will travel to central where it will tackle last placed Vishnu Boys at the Caroni Conquerors Ground. The only motivation for Vishnu Boys is playing the spoiler role, as it has already been demoted from the premiership division.
It will be a tight battle today between fifth placed Naparima, sixth placed Fyzabad and seventh placed Presentation College, Chaguanas to avoid demotion. Fyzabad will play Presentation at the Evergreen Recreation Ground in Woodland.
