UWI T20 bowls off today
The 6th Edition of the Unicom UWI T20 tournament will bowl off today at the Sir Frank Worrell grounds at UWISPEC in St. Augustine at 6pm this evening.
The popular tournament which is being run under the patronage of the legendary cricketer Deryck Murray has become the curtain raiser for the domestic cricket season and has attracted some of the top teams in the country. Cane Farm, Merry Boys, Powergen, Central Sports, Club Crusoe (Tobago), Munroe Road, Comets and UWI will battle for the grand prize of $35,000.
The first match will see defending champions Cane Farm taking on Tobago’s Club Crusoe. Cane Farm walked away with the 2017 title after they defeated Demerara Cricket Club out of Guyana by 67 runs. On that occasion West Indies batsman Evin Lewis slammed 90 for Cane Farm.
Tomorrow, Merryboys a former champion in this tournament will take on hosts UWI also at 6pm. The first round ends on January 16 with the semis on the 18 an 19 and the grand finals on January 20.
Jan 12 - Cane Farm vs Club Crusoe
Jan 13 - Merryboys vs UWI
Jan 15 - PowerGen vs Munroe Road
Jan 16 - Central Sports vs Comets
Jan 18 - First semis
Jan 19 - Second semis
Jan 20 - Grand final.
