My article a couple weeks ago on the impact of the World Cup spirit prompted a few discussions among some of my peers in the sporting industry and even led to a couple emails sent to me which questioned whether I was being biased towards the World Cup and perhaps a bit unfair to the Olympic Games. T&T’s boys’ and girls’ Cadet teams captured the gold medal at the Third World Junior Table-Tennis Circuit Tournament in Guatemala City, Guatemala, yesterday. In the boys’ final, the local pair of Arun Roopnarine and Aaron Wilson combined to shut out Guatemala ‘A’ 3-0.

Richard Thompson and Keston Bledman were well beaten in men’s 100m finals at the Diamond League London Grand Prix in Crystal Palace yesterday. An Olympic silver medallist in the men’s 100 metres in Beijing, China Thompson was fifth in 10.14 seconds while Bledman ended seventh in  10.23.
